French court found woman guilty of divorce for refusing to have sex with her husband
The French woman appealed to the European Court of Human Rights in connection with the fact that the local courts found her guilty of divorce. The reason was that she refused to have sex with her husband.
The first decision in the case of a 66-year-old woman was issued the year before last. The Versailles Court of Appeal decided that she had not fulfilled her marital duties at all, which made it simply impossible to keep the family together. This decision was then approved by the Court of Cassation.
Two charitable organizations located in France decided to protect the woman. There, the court decision was called out of date and stated that it deprives their client of the right to consent.
It should be noted that in France, almost half of the rapes are committed by the victim's ex or current husband.
